Are you looking for a fun way to engage with books in 2025? If you've Googled "2025 reading challenge," you've probably noticed how oddly obscure some of the tasks are, making you feel defeated before you even start.
I don't want to pick a book with a red cover or read a book that starts with E like some articles suggest, and I'll bet you don't either! What if those books end up being a waste of time? Wouldn't you rather participate in a challenge that gives you more freedom so you can pick books that you are more likely to enjoy?

The time you have to invest in reading might be limited, so this 2025 easy reading challenge will help you set and achieve goals without feeling overwhelmed and provide you with ample wiggle room to choose the books that interest you.
As an added BONUS to all you book lovers who are happiest when you are immersed in literary culture, you will find NINE bookish goals to achieve in 2025 that don't require reading!
The "Baker's Dozen" Reading Challenge for 2025
You might be someone who has enough free time to read a book in 3-7 days (or less!), which means you could easily complete 52 or more books per year. Those with tighter schedules might require 2-4 weeks to finish a novel.
With such large variances in mind, I created a Baker's Dozen reading challenge so that those with more time to spare will finish the challenge way ahead of schedule while those cramped for time won't feel overwhelmed. This challenge is "do-able" for everyone!
Here are the 13 reading challenges--one per month plus one extra for good measure. Select books from the following categories:
Cozy mystery
Author I've never tried
Classic novel
Book from a series
Biography or autobiography
Been on my TBR pile for a while
Beach read
Book from a favorite author
Faith-based book
Thriller
2025 book release
Historical fiction or political non-fiction
Christmas-themed
The categories are general enough that you won't be pigeon-holed into reading something you're not enthusiastic about, yet they offer a wide variety of genres that will pull you out of your comfort zone.
Complete them in any order!
